“The Secret”

What is the difference between achievers and normal people? Well, it's not brainpower. It's not time. It's not race, sex, religion. There is something, though. There's a razor's edge of difference.

Let me give you an example. Right now one of my primary home towns is Nashville, Tennessee, otherwise known as Music City USA., a town full of musicians. It's in our culture, it's in our blood. It's our stew. We know the business.

Interestingly enough, in that business there are multimillionaires whom you surely know about. Garth Brooks might come to mind. Then there are seemingly hundreds of thousands of songwriters and musicians, enough to comprise a whole city, who are barely skating by, barely making it. I call them "driving on maypops"?those bald tires they?re driving may pop any minute.

What is the difference? Look, time isn't it! A lot of times talent isn't it, either. It's focus! It?s intention. It?s determination. It?s daring! The successful ones know what they're doing, design the path, and they go after it. They take that extra mile?they take what they're doing seriously. They take action relentlessly. They don't just talk about it.

It's situational acuity?they always know if what they're doing is improving them or is not. Then they have the discipline and courage, the decision, to do what they need to do. They ?look? like they are doing the same things, but they're going for more and they're responsible for it.

That's the difference I wish for you.

There are so many reasons not to do the right thing that it's not even funny, and so many of them masquerade as good sense… “I have to visit my aunt… I haven't seen her for a year and a half,” right? “I don't want to go, because I was out the weekend prior.” There are so many excuses that it's just a matter of, how bad do you want it?

If you have come to a point in your life where you want it, you'll know that you can reorder your schedule. And you know what? Your aunt will still be there the next weekend or the next month when you’re not trading off prime time.

Okay, maybe it's some holiday in some other country that doesn't connect because we don't do it as a holiday here in the U.S. There will be another day. There will be other opportunities. There will be time to contribute every single way you want.

You cannot ever afford to cheat yourself. But, ironically, you're more likely to cheat yourself than you are others. Reverse the equation. True love and consideration – except for in critical instances – never requires you sacrifice yourself. There’s a thousand ways and a thousand times to contribute, both to yourself, your mission, and the loved ones and outside interests you have.

Quite frankly, quit making excuses, and start making success.

You've got to learn your priorities. With a strong desire and a goal, you've decided to do something. If this is one of the things that you must do to achieve and accomplish your goals, to acquire the riches that you want, you don't really have any other choice but to do the right thing—or you're selling out.

Whatever is out there is available. We're not talking about ever violating anyone else's rights; the only way we can receive more of the goods of life during this brief span of life that we have here is to contribute more, to up our contribution. It's just not going to happen if you're sitting there writing mortgages every day of your life.

Now, you may make a decent living according to conventional standards, but you'll not get wealthy, and you won't have those things you want. It's just a matter of science! Find out what those people who became rich did, and do it!

By the way, this whole science thing doesn't ever stop. So far, in my career, one of the best-responding sales letters I've ever had—actually two of them, the top two—were for products that were not my products! One of the worst sales letters that I ever had was for a product that was my product!

You're learning from whatever you do, because it's a world of cause and effect. Learn the strategy, and you can adapt yourself to that strategy.

Sintonize con lo que si quiere, nunca lo que no quiere.

We're saying, tune in to and with what you want, not with what you don't want. Hey, this concept was very well illustrated in The Secret, the movie by Rhonda Byrne. Remember the bills, the aggravation, people at the mailbox? And of course the message of the movie was, because you're thinking that way, that's what you keep getting.

And well, lo and behold, the message is the same here. Tune into what you want, not what you don't want. Now here's a good one, though—what if you don't have what you want right now, how do you tune into that? Well, it's easy. You imagine it in vivid color and brightness, high-intensity sounds, sight, size… change the mental dimensions as NLP teaches you to do.

And you make it so valuable that you will do anything to go for it. That you are getting motivated…that you actually put yourself in motion, in action, with a definite plan to manifest this, that's how you do it. Tune into what you want. Amplify that want. You've got a life to live; you've got a chance to make something of it.

No guarantees. Time goes fast, what are you gonna do? It's up to you. If you are conscious, if you're really wanting to create the kind of things that a lot of people who are attracted to this philosophy are, it's real simple.

Again, the message comes up—connect yourself, tune in to the thing you want, not the things you don't want.
